
Kate Boyd
Humanities Teacher
Kate has an M.A. in English Language and Literature (University of Washington) and a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature (University of Washington). For several years, Kate taught at the University of Washington for the Department of English, Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies, and the Interdisciplinary Honors program.
Kate Boyd is a public humanities scholar whose teaching, research and service is informed by over two decades of community and social justice experience. At UW, her research received several awards including the Nancy Hartsock Prize for Best Graduate Paper in Feminist Theory, the Graduate School Presidential Dissertation Fellowship, and Exemplary Diversity Scholar, awarded by the National Center for Institutional Diversity.
Most recently, Kate taught cultural studies-based composition and literature courses at Shoreline Community College, where she was tenured faculty in the English Department. Kate is also a collaborating artist on community-based multi-media, interactive installations that engage rural and suburban organizing strategies from the 1980’s and 1990’s.
