Kate Boyd

Kate Boyd

Humanities Teacher

Kate Boyd has an M.A. in English Language and Literature (University of Washington) and a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature (University of Washington). 

Kate is a Seattle based interdisciplinary public humanities scholar, long-time educator, and cultural organizer. Bridging conversations between academia, the arts, and social movements, Kate’s educational philosophy is uniquely informed by over two decades of experience visioning and supporting community-based education and programming to further inclusive democracy at the local, regional, and national level.

Kate earned her PhD in English Language and Literature at the University of Washington and taught for the Department of English, the Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies Department, and the Interdisciplinary Honors program. Kate’s research received several awards including the Nancy Hartsock Prize for Best Graduate Paper in Feminist Theory, the Graduate School Presidential Dissertation Fellowship, and Exemplary Diversity Scholar, awarded by the National Center for Institutional Diversity. Before joining the 91ÊÓÆµ School in 2019-2020, Kate taught interdisciplinary composition and literature courses at Shoreline Community College where she was tenured faculty in the English Department. Kate’s work has been published in journals such as Feminist Formations and Critical Ethnic Studies and she has collaborated on installations shown at the Henry Art Gallery, Interference Archive, and the Pacific 91ÊÓÆµ College of Art.
