Javier taught most recently at the prestigious Nightingale-Bamford School in New York City, where he was a spanish language and literature teacher in their upper school. Prior to that he was a visiting assistant professor in the Spanish Studies program of Bard College and worked聽at New York University as a teaching assistant and post-doctoral fellow. He was also a language and literature lecturer at the University of Washington and a humanities lecturer at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide.
In addition to teaching Spanish and Journalism, Javier has been coaching cross-country and long-distance track since joining NWS in 2023. A lifelong runner, his athletic career reached its pinnacle with multiple honors as the New York Road Runners鈥� Runner of the Year. While living in New York, he also assisted legendary coach Frank 鈥淕ags鈥� Gagliano with the now-defunct NJ-NY Track Club.
